Cultural stories: Month of the British Philosophy

In February, the Embassy of United Kingdom, the Faculty of Philosophy UKIM – Skopje, the Philosophical Society and the EU InfoCentre of the Delegation of the European Union organised the Month of the British Philosophy, as part of the EU InfoCentre’s series of events Cultural stories.

Professor Stephen Priest, PhD from Oxford University held a lecture about the British Empiricists: Hobbes, Locke, Berkeley and Hume; Mrs. Kerry Smallman., MA, also from Oxford University spoke on the subject “What is Britain?”; Professor Mirko Gjoshevski, PhD elaborated on the work and the ideas of Francis Bacon as a Philosopher of the Modern Science; Professor Vladimir Davchev, PhD, presented the Logical Behaviorism of Gilbert Ryle and Professor Ivan Dzeparoski, PhD spoke of Hume and the Standard of Taste

The Month of the British Philosophy was officially open on 2 February at 19:00h at the EU InfoCentre. The audience was addressed by:

  • Professor Ivan Dzeparoski, Head of the Institute of Philosophy, Faculty of Philosophy, University Ss Cyril and Methodius, Skopje
  • Mr. Ljupco Mitkovski, President of Philosophical Society, and
  • HE Mr. Charles Garrett, Ambassador of United Kingdom, Skopje
