Opening of the exhibition Emigrated in Freedom
On Saturday, 4 June, the exhibition Emigrated in Freedom by the designer Goran Kostovski – Ind.o.g was opened at the Me and You square (in front of Centre Municipality), Debar Maalo, Skopje. The project was part of the series of events Cultural stories, organised by EU InfoCentre
The exhibition opening included performances by local DJ-s, and the visitors had an opportunity to receive pieces from the new “Celebrate Life / Emigrated in Freedom” collection of T-shirts, badges and stickers.
Following the opening, the exhibition was displayed in the EU InfoCentre from 6 until 14 June 2016
The aim of the project is to increase awareness of the importance of non-discrimination, equality and freedom. “Emigrated in Freedom” are birds, drawn in acrylic on cardboard pieces of waste found on the streets of Skopje. Each of the drawings refers to discrimination that people may face in their own environment, which pushes them to emigrate aiming for a better future. The birds are symbols of striving for freedom, human rights, equality and hope. The exhibition criticizes one-mindedness and discrimination that occupy our daily lives.
“Emigrated in Freedom” is part of the long-term project “Celebrate Life” by the designer Goran Kostovski – Ind.o.g
